Welcome to our Houston Journey to Damascus (JTD) website. I have the honor and privilege of being the new President of the Board of Directors for 2017.

My name is Matt Hoffman and I made my pilgrim journey in January 2007, JTD #48.  I arrived at Circle Lake on Thursday wondering what to expect. My friend and chiropractor had urged me to go. I agreed to, but only if my cousin could come along. We had been raised Catholic, but I was attending a Methodist Church, so for me the ecumenical nature of Christians from all faiths working in unity as one Body of Christ made a big impact. By Sunday afternoon I walked away wondering what had happened to me. I knew that I had experienced something totally unexpected and wonderful. I also knew that I felt different, but I wasn’t sure what I needed to do next, so I made my way to a new reunion group (Dixie Farm Boys). I knew that I wanted more of the “Journey” I had just experienced at Circle Lake. Joining that reunion group helped me to develop some “lifelong” friendships, based on unconditional love and Christian brotherhood. And I was led into an ecumenical ministry that has made a difference in my life and countless other pilgrims. And now, 10 years later, I have been asked to serve as President of the Houston JTD Board of Directors.

Last year was a very exciting and often challenging year for our community but we are proud to say that in spite of floods and fire we rallied together and succeeded in accomplishing a lot in the name of Jesus.  We had a successful Golf Tournament, made great strides in spreading our name and mission out into the community, and most importantly we helped to lead many men and women toward developing a closer relationship to Christ.  We have been busy setting goals for the coming year and are eager to get started with all we have planned.  Much of our focus will be directed towards identifying areas in which we fall short and developing solutions for making our ministry the best it can be.  We will also continue our efforts at being better “fishers of men” and will be working diligently on filling all the seats at every journey weekend. That is after all what God has called us to do.

So please join us as we reach out to those men and women whom God leads us to and we can all share in the joy of seeing lives change as the Holy Spirit works in and among us. The board members are here to serve each of you in the Houston JTD community, so please do not hesitate to reach out to any one of us, at any time with your ideas, requests, and comments.

May God bless us all as we continue to do His work.

De Colores!
